We are a come and see people, called to lived deeper into Epiphany. The call Jesus offers is not to mission. Nathaniel and Philip were not called to be fishers of people in this passage, they were called to an epiphany.

We who are baptized may indeed continue in our life-long process of learning to “swim.” Which we learn best not by trying harder or working more, but by letting go and allowing God to draw near.

St. John told us of the intimate relationship that is between Jesus and the Father and how Jesus invites us to share in that relationship.

 Our Lord’s “middle coming,” his coming into our hearts, will be our rest and consolation.

Whatever Jesus assumed he saved. This reading gives us hope that Jesus can redeem and save us even from the effects of an unhealthy and flawed family system.
