This week's lesson: Faces of Easter IV & V. "Jesus went into the desert to discover more about who He was and what His work was going to be. He was there for forty days and forty nights. There was little to eat or drink."
I wonder how Jesus felt in the desert?
I wonder if He talked with God?
I wonder how you would have felt if you were walking with Jesus in the desert?
I wonder if there is anything (a song, story, prayer, etc) that is especially meaningful to you this Lent season?
Join CRECHE Trinity House resident and PhD Candidate in Theology at BC Jess Navarette, who will host a free ecumenical event with hymns, mantras, meditation and more at Grace Episcopal Church, 76 Eldredge Street in Newton Corner, 7:00pm Saturday, March 18. There will be a reception with vegetarian and vegan food. Sponsored by the Boston Theological Interreligious Consortium, Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries, and Newton Community Pride.
Please place your gift for the Bishops’ Annual Appeal in the Offering this week, “Ingathering Sunday,” March 19. You may also mail it back directly to the diocesan offices. The appeal newsletter and donation envelope are available in the narthex and the coffee hour (Dunbar) room, or by contacting the parish office.
The Bishops’ Annual Appeal provides financial support for our diverse shared ministries and initiatives ranging from lifelong Christian formation, to youth and young adult ministries, to racial justice and creation care initiatives, to multicultural and immigration outreach. Together, we are able to accomplish that which we cannot do alone!
Trinity’s Vestry invites the congregation to read and join a weekly discussion of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s 2020 Lenten book, Saying Yes to Life, by Ruth Valerio, a book that shows reverence for the environment through the framework of the Days of Creation in Genesis. We will discuss the book’s six chapters after Sunday services during Lent. The Vestry hopes that parishioners will be inspired by some of the practical suggestions on how we can appreciate and care for God’s creation.
If you would like to make a memorial contribution toward the purchase of Trinity’s Easter lilies, please pick up a memorial envelope in the Narthex or Dunbar (coffee hour) Room. For names to be included in the Easter Day order of service, envelopes must be received in the office by Wednesday, April 5.
The Trinity Parish Vestry voted in 2022 to go "mask friendly"; that is, unless otherwise indicated, masks are optional at Trinity Parish. Please note that, pending further guidance from the Diocese and local infection rates, the church may in future return to requiring face coverings for in-person gatherings.
Thank you to all who continue to send in your pledge! Your faithfulness in keeping up your pledge helps Trinity Parish stay “in the black” during this time, and we are grateful. Pledges may be mailed to Trinity Parish at 11 Homer St., Newton Centre, MA 02459.
Located at 11 Homer Street in Newton Centre on the lower level of Trinity Church, the Pantry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a member of the Greater Boston Food Bank. It is open most Tuesdays from 2:30–5:30pm and the first Saturday of each month from 11:30am–2pm.
