December 24, 2022
Please note that there will be no Sunday School at Trinity on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, nor on January 1 and January 8. Also note that St. John's Church will be hosting Sunday morning worship on January 1 (The Feast of the Holy Name).
We reflected this week on the upcoming Christmas season:
I wonder how you are preparing to welcome Jesus?
I wonder how Mary and Joseph felt as they prepared for the birth of Jesus?
I wonder who or what you are grateful for this Christmas?
Youth in Trinity’s Sunday School program are invited to sing “In the bleak midwinter” (1982 Hymnal No. 112) during Trinity’s 7:00pm Christmas Eve service! We will meet one last time at 6:30 before the Carol Prelude.
We will hold a potluck immediately following the Christmas Eve service. If you can, please bring a main dish, side, beverage, or dessert to share with fellow members of our community.
This Sunday’s Loose Offering will go to the Centre St. Food Pantry, a joint initiative of the Episcopal parishes in Newton to feed the hungry in MetroWest Boston. The Centre St. Food Pantry is housed here at Trinity Parish. Checks may be made payable to “Trinity Parish” with “Food Pantry” in the memo line.
Regular Sunday morning worship for Christmas Day is cancelled, because Fr. Todd received a positive COVID test result late last week. Many thanks to Fr. Matt Kruger for stepping in a couple of weeks early to celebrate Trinity's Christmas Eve liturgy!
The Trinity Parish Vestry voted to go "mask friendly" effective immediately; that is, masks are optional at Trinity Parish as of April 14. Please note that, pending further guidance from the Diocese and local infection rates, we may in future return to requiring face coverings when we gather in person.
Thank you to all who continue to send in your pledge! Your faithfulness in keeping up your pledge helps Trinity Parish stay “in the black” during this time, and we are grateful. Pledges may be mailed to Trinity Parish at 11 Homer St., Newton Centre, MA 02459.
Located at 11 Homer Street in Newton Centre on the lower level of Trinity Church, the Pantry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a member of the Greater Boston Food Bank. It is open most Tuesdays from 2:30–5:30pm and the first Saturday of each month from 11:30am–2pm.
New households are asked to fill out the Online Pantry Registration Form or print and fill out this paper form. If you live in Newton or Brighton and wish to be added to the CSFP delivery list, send an E-mail with your name, phone number, city, and family size.
Please remember in your prayers: the Episcopal parishes of Newton, our clergy and people; the Centre Street Food Pantry, its clients and staff; Joseph, our President; Charlie, our Governor; and Ruthanne, our Mayor. Pray also for Joan and for peace and a return to calm in South Africa; for peace in South Sudan, the Palestinian territories, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and Yemen; comfort and care for all migrants and refugees; All Saints Anglican Church, Winterton, KwaZulu-Natal; the Khethani Christian Fellowship, Khethani Township, KwaZulu-Natal; B-READY Afterschool staff, teens, youth, and families; comfort and healing for Krista, Cynthia, and Rick; for the soul of Jack.
