December 18, 2022
Please note that there will be no Sunday School at Trinity during Christmas Eve or Christmas Day services. Also remember that St. John's Church will be hosting Sunday morning worship on January 1 (The Feast of the Holy Name).
This week's lesson covers the Mystery of Christmas: “Then Mary's baby was born. Joseph was like a father, but the baby was from God. Look at all the angels. They are so happy, they are singing the 'Gloria in Excelsis.'”
I wonder how Mary and Joseph felt when Jesus was born?
I wonder how you celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus in your life?
I wonder how you will keep close to Jesus this year?
I wonder what are you most looking forward to this Christmas?
Volunteers are needed to ready the church for Christmas Eve! On Sunday, the 18th, we will especially need help carrying up candelabras from the basement, as well as polishing silver, hanging wreaths, setting out poinsettias, etc. If you are able to assist the Altar Guild in this important yearly function, please speak to Donna English.
We will hold a potluck immediately following the Christmas Eve service. Please bring a main dish, side, beverage, or dessert to share with fellow members of our community. It is always a festive time to share food together.
Youth in Trinity’s Sunday School program are invited to sing “In the bleak midwinter” (1982 Hymnal No. 112) during Trinity’s 7:00pm Christmas Eve service! We will rehearse each Sunday during December in the Chapel immediately after the Eucharist.
If you would like to make a memorial contribution toward the purchase of Trinity’s Christmas poinsettias, please pick up a Christmas memorial envelope from the Coffee Hour table in the Chapel. For names to be included in the Christmas Eve order of service, envelopes must be received in the parish office by Wednesday, December 21.
The Trinity Parish Vestry voted to go "mask friendly" effective immediately; that is, masks are optional at Trinity Parish as of April 14. Please note that, pending further guidance from the Diocese and local infection rates, we may in future return to requiring face coverings when we gather in person.
Thank you to all who continue to send in your pledge! Your faithfulness in keeping up your pledge helps Trinity Parish stay “in the black” during this time, and we are grateful. Pledges may be mailed to Trinity Parish at 11 Homer St., Newton Centre, MA 02459.
Located at 11 Homer Street in Newton Centre on the lower level of Trinity Church, the Pantry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a member of the Greater Boston Food Bank. It is open most Tuesdays from 2:30–5:30pm and the first Saturday of each month from 11:30am–2pm.
New households are asked to fill out the Online Pantry Registration Form or print and fill out this paper form. If you live in Newton or Brighton and wish to be added to the CSFP delivery list, send an E-mail with your name, phone number, city, and family size.
Please remember in your prayers: the Episcopal parishes of Newton, our clergy and people; the Centre Street Food Pantry, its clients and staff; Joseph, our President; Charlie, our Governor; and Ruthanne, our Mayor. Pray also for Joan and for peace and a return to calm in South Africa; for peace in South Sudan, the Palestinian territories, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and Yemen; comfort and care for all migrants and refugees; All Saints Anglican Church, Winterton, KwaZulu-Natal; the Khethani Christian Fellowship, Khethani Township, KwaZulu-Natal; B-READY Afterschool staff, teens, youth, and families; comfort and healing for Krista, Cynthia, and Rick; for the soul of Jack.
