December 11, 2022
This week's lesson covers Advent III: “The angels’ singing sounded something like this: 'Don’t be afraid. We bring you tidings of great joy. Peace on earth and good will to everyone. A Child is born. Go. Hurry. Run to Bethlehem to see the Child who will change everything.'”
I wonder how you would welcome the Child (Jesus)?
I wonder who brings you joy?
I wonder what you are hoping for this Advent season?
Trinity Parish's 2023 Annual Meeting will take place in two parts: the first this Sunday, December 11, following the Eucharist, wherein we will elect parish officers and Vestry persons; and the second on Sunday, January 29, 2023, when the Investment Committee will make its report and the Treasurer will present the 2023 budget. There will additionally be a preview, held over Zoom, of the 2023 budget on Monday, January 23, at which time parishioners’ questions will be answered.
Youth in Trinity’s Sunday School program are invited to sing “In the bleak midwinter” (1982 Hymnal No. 112) during Trinity’s 7:00pm Christmas Eve service! We will rehearse each Sunday during December in the Chapel immediately after the Eucharist.
If you would like to make a memorial contribution toward the purchase of Trinity’s Christmas poinsettias, please pick up a Christmas memorial envelope from the Coffee Hour table in the Chapel. For names to be included in the Christmas Eve order of service, envelopes must be received in the parish office by Wednesday, December 21.
Volunteers are needed to ready the church for Christmas Eve service! On Sunday, the 18th, we will especially need help carrying up candelabras from the basement, as well as polishing silver, hanging wreaths, setting out poinsettias, etc. If you are able to assist the Altar Guild in this important yearly function, please speak to Donna English.
The Trinity Parish Vestry voted to go "mask friendly" effective immediately; that is, masks are optional at Trinity Parish as of April 14. Please note that, pending further guidance from the Diocese and local infection rates, we may in future return to requiring face coverings when we gather in person.
Thank you to all who continue to send in your pledge! Your faithfulness in keeping up your pledge helps Trinity Parish stay “in the black” during this time, and we are grateful. Pledges may be mailed to Trinity Parish at 11 Homer St., Newton Centre, MA 02459.
Located at 11 Homer Street in Newton Centre on the lower level of Trinity Church, the Pantry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a member of the Greater Boston Food Bank. It is open most Tuesdays from 2:30–5:30pm and the first Saturday of each month from 11:30am–2pm.
New households are asked to fill out the Online Pantry Registration Form or print and fill out this paper form. If you live in Newton or Brighton and wish to be added to the CSFP delivery list, send an E-mail with your name, phone number, city, and family size.
