Our Youth Education

Our preschool and elementary school students hear lessons from both the Old Testament and the New Testament with an emphasis on seasonal material, using the Episcopal curriculum. Teachings on Christian life and worship and church sacraments are enhanced by age-appropriate activities, such as crafts and music. For these younger students, the highlight of the year is the annual Christmas pageant led and assisted by our teenagers.

Our middle school students attend a confirmation class that combines Bible study with discussions about liturgy, spiritual development, and Christian outreach. These students participate actively in church life, including outreach activities. In addition, the teens in the confirmation class meet for further instruction after each service.

Detailed information about Sunday School classes, new staff, and changes in routine will be mailed directly to parents. Copies are also available at church. Below is a brief summary of our Christian Education offerings for young people.

Nursery and Childcare
Always available downstairs during the 10:00am service.
Pre-School and Kindergarten Class
Students meet in the nursery with a teacher who will lead a simple lesson and craft. Children may then engage in supervised play in the presence of two caregivers.
Elementary (K -5)

Students meet downstairs during the first part of the service. At the time of the Peace, their teacher will bring students upstairs to rejoin their parents for the remainder of the worship service.

Sermon Class (grades 5-7)
Students attend worship with their parents up to the time of the sermon and then leave the service with their teacher for a class in the library. Class members return to the service during the Peace, and rejoin their parents. After the service members gather back in the library as soon as they have had a quick snack.
High School
Students will meet following the worship service twice a month. Gatherings will include a combination of study, discussion, and recreation.
